About the fibre options:
- Beersheba Castledale – Castledale is an ideal wool for beginners to handspinning due to the fibre length and easy of handling. Experienced spinners will also fall in love with this wool for a relaxed spin. Beersheba Castledale wool has a lovely pearly sheen and is useful for a range of garments due to the lofty tendencies of the fibre. The Castledale sheep are our own “invention” and unique to Beersheba Farm. Our Castledale combed tops are licensed with the Australian Fibre Collective as they are 100% Australian-grown and processed. The tops generally test at 22.5 – at 25 micron with an average 14cm staple length depending on the seasonal batch.
- Beersheba Merino – our Beersheba Farm Merino wool combed top is approximately 18.5-19micron with an average 13-14cm staple length depending on the seasonal batch. The wool is gorgeously soft (a comfort factor of over 99%!) and is hand-dyed by us. It is ideal for spinning or felting. Our Merino sheep are non-mulsed.
- Beersheba Duchess blend – This blend takes our soft & silky Beersheba Farm Merino and combines it some of the lofty and pearly Beersheba Farm Castledale and then adds streaks of silk! We sourced several Indian A-grade silks (bleached Mulberry, bleached & unbleached Tussah) to add to our mix.

Please be aware that colours may vary on different computers and there may be slight variation in colour between batches/fibre bases.
Colour notes: This item is hand-dyed and ideally the dye has fully exhausted and/or any residual dye has been rinsed from the wool. However, sometimes, especially with the merino tops, there may be a small amount of excess colour rinse out of a finished product since I don’t like over-handling the fibre. As with new clothing, please make sure you wash in cool water and “wash separately”, especially on the first wash.
